WOMEN, SELF PROTECTION AND HANDGUNS

Updated: Apr 28

Advice offered by Concealed Carry WNC

Regardless of one’s choice of weapon, you must be willing and determined to do whatever is

necessary to stop a criminal attack. “I just want to scare them away” is a recipe for disaster.

Criminals look for the weak and indecisive. Any hesitation will only encourage them. If, while stopping a criminal attack the criminal is killed, and the victim acted within the law, she (or he), as the victim, most likely will not be charged with any crime. Surviving an encounter or attack is all that really matters.

Women must be aware of their surroundings. They must think ahead and ask: “What if?” But when that fails, they need a weapon that can keep them outside of grappling range - the grasp of an attacker – typically about 6 feet or more. They must have a weapon that when properly used will absolutely stop an attack, and that’s not typically pepper spray or a taser, it’s a handgun.

Women usually make the best students. They tend to lack the bad habits and misconceptions held by many men, and women can and do shoot as well and accurately as men. Caring men know that they can’t always be with the women they love. Therefore, they provide them with the right sized handguns, training, and regular, correct practice that they need to remain safe.
